Fizzics Education incursion on Big Science Big Fun

Date Posted: 02-Dec-2013

Fizzics

Another fabulous Science enrichment activity, this time, for Year 7 students:

All of Year 7 had the opportunity to have time off from normal classes to experience some extracurricular science activities run by ‘Fizzics Education’.  During periods 1 & 2 students got to choose between a stars and planets workshop or a chemistry show.

Then during periods 3 & 4 they came together for ‘Big Science Big Fun’ where they saw a whole lot of cool science thingy’s ranging from giant smoke rings to dancing fire waves!

Forensic science helps students solve murder

Date Posted: 11-Dec-2013

forensic

A faboulous enrichment activity in the regular classroom with ‘real life’ products/ implications! See below:

Students have been studying forensic’s in Science and finished the unit by solving a murder mystery run by Education Interactive.  The scenario was based on an actual crime and required students to gather information such as footprints, DNA, fibre and chemical analysis in order to solve the crime.

Once the evidence was gathered selected students acted out roles such as the suspects, victim and detectives!  Eventually Mitchell Wall was arrested for the murder of Keele O Hagan and detectives Sam Logan and Dani Shepherd hand cuffed Mitch to a table!
Everyone participated well and had a good time!
